WHY WOULD I NEED A CUSTOM MADE CHIMNEY CAP?
- Chimney caps protect against weather that is absorbed into the bricks and mortar,
that may cause expansion and contraction when the weather changes. This act can make the structure of your chimney unstable,
and therefore start to break down.
- They protect against animals. Animals like to nest in chimneys because it is a safe high place. Nests
are highly flammable.
- They control sparks. On a windy day sparks can exit the chimney and ignite nearby trees, which
can result in a major fire. Some states already made it mandatory for all houses with fireplaces to have a chimney cap.
DO I NEED T0 REPLACE MY EXISTING CHIMNEY
CAP?
- It may have been blown out of place.
Chimney caps can come unattached due to wild animals and regular wear and tear. Therefore it does not protect and keep your
chimney safe.
- Rust also is a major factor in considering a new cap. If your cap was built using Galvanized steel, it will
only have the life span of 3 to 5 years.
In areas affected by salt water, erosion is more likely to take place, and your chimney cap won’t last even up to 3
years without the proper material.
